A letter to my one year old

Dear Rory,
When I was pregnant with you we were unsure of the gender of our soon to be addition. Admittedly I was scared to have a girl. I am a girl. I was a handful when I was a teenager. I am lucky, very lucky, that my life turned out the way I did. So though I knew no matter what gender you were, I would love you, love you with all my heart. But, I got chills thinking of raising a girl.
You my sweet girl, are nothing like your mama. I have flaws. You have none. You are sweet. You always have a smile on your face. You love to say "hi". You love to show us what treasure you have found. You love to give kisses. The sweet open mouth, baby kind that make a mama's heart melt. When I hold you, you pat me on my shoulder. I adore that. You are fairly easy going. You will go with us anywhere, anytime. But the car is not your favorite. You are bright eyed and bushy tailed every time you wake. Chairs are a favorite of yours. Climb up, climb down, sit and absorb your surroundings. I imagine us visiting coffee houses and sitting in the beach together in a few years.

I have many hopes for you. I hope you stay caring, sweet and happy. I hope that you are always a mama's girl. I hope that become an independent woman with unique thoughts and dreams. I hope that I can nurture that. Don't be afraid of your intelligence. Flaunt it. Girlfriends. Find them. Choose great ones. Love them. Do right by them. When everything else falls apart they will always be there. Know that your mama and daddy will always be there for you. No matter what.

You have made our family complete Rory. You have made my swell more than I thought possible. I love you sweet baby girl.

Tears.
I was in a cafe today with a bunch of kids who were climbing around like monkeys, loud and truly, kind of annoying.
I honestly was turned off on the idea of having kids.
HOWEVER, this letter may have changed my mind just back. I love your love for your kids. And I have a special place in my heart for this little one. Maybe because I'm bitter that Aiden always liked Jimmy better than I. :)
I can't wait to spoil Rory when she gets big. Send her on to Aunt Jaimie's.
love you!!
